Big Falls County Park Engagement Session // Eau Claire, WI // Kayla + Stephen

Sometimes I meet couples and it just works. They’re more than clients and we connect on a different level. I know Kayla from our private school days a million years ago. I knew as soon as she emailed me and told me about her partner Stephen and their life together that we were gonna be on that different level.
These two loves music and the outdoors. They like a good beer and a good cocktail. They like board games and arcades and we basically just have all the same interests.

Kayla and Stephen had no desire to do things “traditionally”. Like a formal proposal and engagement. They just decided they wanted to get married. Just a reminder that you don’t have to do this wedding thing any certain way.
So these aren’t exactly “engagement pictures”. They are more just a night for us all to hang out and get all the portraits to help tell their life story.
When we were figuring out where to do this couples session Kayla and Stephen really wanted to incorporate their personalities and their story. Eau Claire was the perfect backdrop for Kayla and Stephen. It's where they've built their life together and where they'll be tying the knot this year. Our first stop was Big Falls County Park. These two are nature lovers so it was the perfect spot and the most gorgeous backdrop.

After climbing around the waterfalls we headed to downtown Eau Claire. This city means so much to Kayla and Stephen and I loved getting to see it through their eyes.

These two are BIG Bon Iver fans. So we had to get some pictures in front of this mural!

And of course gotta end the session with a cold beer.

Kayla puts Stephen’s hair up every day, so obviously we had to capture that magic.
